Easy Bend River Farms
Our goal is to provide a pick your own blackberry farm and connect communities together through nature
About
Ken Putnam had a vision when he bought this property 30 years ago-and even then he recognized it was more than a piece of land. He envisioned a field of thorn-less blackberries, a front yard full of edible landscaping- and looking across the river to Pilot mountain, he found a peaceful refuge.
Ken started Ken’s Bike Shop in Winston-Salem and he knows a little bit about building community. He has supported cycling and promoted hundreds of bicycle events throughout North Carolina for decades.
Christine Putnam is a local photojournalist that has worked on projects for many local non-profit foundations throughout NC. Her specialty is telling stories about rivers and the impact they have on us- She has turned that passion into a physical space along the river for communities of all backgrounds to enjoy the natural world and connect to the river.
Alex Carter .. AKA “Farm Boss” has made our vision a reality, helping us build this space from the ground up. Alex wears many hats on the farm!.. when he’s not looking for arrow heads, he’s planting blackberries, building pavilions, and helping us dream bigger.
Plan your next event, retreat or group camping trip with us.. and don’t forget blackberries season from June- August!
Host a small dinner or family event at the river! The “RiverLounge” is a post and beam shelter overlooking the Yadkin River- it has access to the river and multiple camping options for small groups as well as individual sites. The “RiverNest” is a treehouse with garage doors that open up for a bird’s eye view of the river. Sunsets are a must on the deck! The RiverLounge camp is wheel-chair accessible. We love to host organization that support IDD communities.
Take a peek at what we’ve built on the farm the past three years! we are amazed and proud at the community we have started to cultivate!
